Our History

Hello, families! My name is Gus Miragias, I am the owner of Artisan Childcare Center. I hold master's degree the New England Conservatory of Music and am a jazz saxophonist.

Artisan Music Studios, my original educational venture, was founded in 2000 as a response to the across-the-board cuts to music programs in our local public schools. Originally developed as an after-school music program, Artisan Music Studios created a way for schools to bolster their dwindling music programs by "outsourcing" their activities. Through substantial interest in the community, AMS grew into one of the top programs for private lessons in the Boston area, with lessons available at childcare centers as well as in-home tutoring.

After receiving numerous requests from childcare centers to help them design arts-focused programming, I began to cultivate the idea of opening an arts-focused childcare center—one that would provide a well-rounded curriculum and offer families the chance to foster academic and creative success through an innovative arts curriculum.

In September of 2009, we opened the doors of Artisan's first location in Woburn after a period of intense renovation to ensure the classroom environment complied with both the children's needs and our desire for "green" and sustainable outlets. Within two years of operations, our program transformed from just four enrolled students to full capacity!

Witnessing the success of our first center in Woburn has been a dream come true. And now with the addition of our Newton location, we are even more equipped to provide our diverse families across the community with a creative, nurturing, educational experience for their children. The opportunity to expand our impact has revitalized our mission, and we look forward to meeting the needs of families in the Newton area and beyond in the future.
