Welcome to Artisan

At Artisan, we understand that choosing a childcare program is a deeply personal decision. We want you to feel like you've found more than a school; you've found a place where your child can grow, feel known, and be celebrated for exactly who they are.

Hello families,

My name is Gus Miragias, and I’m the founder of Artisan Childcare Center. While I'm a jazz saxophonist by training with a master's degree from the New England Conservatory of Music, I’ve always believed in the power of a quality education that includes arts and music programming to nurture young lives.

Artisan was born out of a desire to keep the arts alive for young children when music programming was being cut schools across our commonwealth. What began in 2000 as a small music studio quickly grew into a vibrant community with 5 arts centers and 32 after-school music programs throughout greater Boston. Soon I was hearing from families and educators who wanted to bring this same creative, high-quality experience into a specialized early childhood classroom setting.

That’s when the idea for Artisan Childcare Center was born: a place where young children could grow, explore, and thrive in an environment grounded in music, nature, and joyful learning. We opened our first location in Woburn in 2009, and today, with the addition of our Cambridge, Newton, and Weston campuses, we are honored to have offered hundreds of families a space that feels both inspiring and nurturing, where children are not just cared for, but truly known.

Our Guiding Philosophy

Our mission is to help children develop not just academically, but holistically. This is rooted in the core values that shape every aspect of our program and create a truly unique learning experience for every child.

Child Development

Child Development

Every classroom is built around age-appropriate experiences that support a child’s natural drive to explore and grow. We provide a safe, nurturing space where children feel confident to ask questions, explore freely, and build on their ideas.

Exceptional Teachers

Exceptional Teachers

Our teachers are more than educators; they're nurturers and creative guides. Each member of our faculty is highly trained in early childhood development, CPR-certified, and deeply committed to helping children reach their potential. They listen closely, respond with care, and take time to understand the unique rhythm of each child.

Parental Trust

Parental Trust

We know how important it is to feel confident in the people caring for your child. We take that responsibility seriously and work closely with families to build open, respectful partnerships. Every question is welcomed, and every concern is addressed with empathy and care.

The Arts Are Foundational

The Arts Are Foundational

We believe music, movement, and the visual arts are not just activities; they're essential tools for learning and self-expression. Backed by research, our arts-rich environment helps children strengthen memory and problem-solving skills while giving them a joyful way to discover who they are.

Sustainability first

Sustainability first

Our “green” initiative is a hands-on learning experience that teaches children a deep respect for their environment. Through gardening, composting, and creative reuse projects, we empower them to become thoughtful stewards of the world around them. Our buildings are thoughtfully renovated using sustainable materials, and our programs model earth-friendly practices every day.

Our Curriculum

Our curriculum is a multisensory and multidimensional approach designed to meet the unique learning needs of each child. It is a collaborative effort between our educators and the Director, ensuring it remains dynamic and responsive. The foundation of our curriculum is the development of a child's social and emotional skills; we believe children learn best when they feel safe, secure, and loved.

Once these emotional needs are met, children can confidently engage in academic learning, which includes a full spectrum of child development from STEAM exploration and literacy to social-skill building. Our teachers are given the autonomy to create their own curricula and themes, which are adjusted annually to incorporate the interests of the children.

Integrated Learning

We utilize our outdoor space as an extension of the classroom, encouraging hands-on activities to develop a child's sense of balance and movement. We also foster natural curiosity and teach problem-solving in conjunction with peers to build a community of considerate learners.

Empathy & Community

Our curriculum is designed to foster empathy and a sense of community, helping children develop a strong foundation for both social and academic success.

Arts & Culture

Daily music lessons are a cornerstone of our program. Children ages 3 and older participate in small-group piano or violin lessons, while infants and toddlers engage in music and movement programming. We also incorporate daily story time and art exploration to foster creativity and expression.
