More than just lessons, our Music Immersion Program is a daily celebration of sound, rhythm, and self-expression. We believe that music is a child's first language: a joyful, powerful way to unlock their potential. From the first song in our infant class to a child's first performance on the violin at an Artisan recital, we integrate music into every moment of the day, helping young minds build the skills that will last a lifetime.
THE WHY
Beyond brain boosting, modern research confirms that early music education has a profound and lasting impact on a child's development. Music cultivates patience, discipline, and grit: qualities that are essential for success in school and life. It teaches children how to focus on a challenging task, work collaboratively with peers, and celebrate small, consistent improvements. These are the foundations of a resilient and capable learner.
Consider what the research says:
Researchers at Harvard University's Graduate School of Education have shown that children who study music are more likely to have higher-level thinking skills, including problem-solving and critical analysis.
A study from the University of Southern California found that musical experience can accelerate brain development in young children, particularly in the areas responsible for language acquisition and reading skills.
A long-term study published in the journal Psychological Science found that formal music training in childhood is associated with better verbal memory, spatial reasoning, and literacy skills, even into adulthood.
Our curriculum is a multisensory and multidimensional approach that is thoughtfully integrated into every child's day. We specifically chose piano and violin because they are two of the best instruments for teaching music theory, fine motor skills, and ear training from a young age.

Ages 6 weeks - 15 months
Our youngest students are introduced to music through gentle rhythms, lullabies, and sensory play. We focus on music and movement, using songs to create a peaceful, predictable flow to their day.

Ages 15 months - 3 years
At this stage, music becomes a tool for active discovery. Toddlers explore sound through simple percussion instruments and rhythmic games, building coordination and a joyful connection to music as they learn to express themselves.

3 years - 5 years old
This is where our formal instruction begins. Children participate in daily, small-group lessons for piano and violin, taught by our talented educators. These lessons are balanced with group singing and movement, helping them build both technical skill and confidence.
THE TEACHERS
Parents want to know who will be guiding their child's musical journey. Our music educators are not only highly skilled musicians but are also deeply passionate about early childhood development. They bring a creative, compassionate approach to every lesson.

At Artisan, we believe early childhood is not a stepping stone, but a defining stage of life — worthy of care, intention, and respect. When children thrive in an environment that sparks curiosity, educators truly see them, and their days are enriched with purpose and joy.

THE CULMINATION
The true magic of the program culminates in our annual recitals twice a year. This isn’t a high-pressure performance; it’s a joyous celebration of each child’s journey and growth. Our students have the opportunity to showcase their hard work and share their talent with family and friends. The recital is a testament to their dedication and a cherished memory for everyone, reinforcing the value of practice and perseverance in a celebratory environment.

Both of my children have gone to Artisan Newton since they were infants and I can't say enough about the caring teachers there. My kids can't wait to go to school or to tell us about all the cool things they did with their friends when they get home. We love all the outside time and the deep appreciation for music that the program has instilled in them.
